1. PARTICIPATION AND ELIGIBILITY
CBT events are open to all eligible participants regardless of race, sex, religion, or national origin. Any eligible participant under the age of 18 may participate with written permission from a parent or legal guardian. The CBT reserves the right to reject any application for membership and tournament entry fees that are not in the best interest of the trail. It is clearly understood, by all participants, that the CBT Director and all Tournament Officials are eligible participants of the CBT trail and are permitted to fish all listed and rescheduled tournaments should they so choose.
2. ENTRY FEES
Entry fees for all tournaments shall be $160.00 per team which includes the Big Fish Pot. The CBT will also require a ONE TIME $20.00 PER PERSON B.A.S.S MEMBERSHIP FEE. All B.A.S.S. memberships expire December 31st annually.
3. PAYOUTS
All CBT tournaments will have a 100%+ cash and incentives payout based on (1) place for every (5) boats. Only (1) Big Bass prize (100% OF BB ENTRY) will be awarded at each event. Prize money will be paid out immediately following the tournament providing there are no protest’ or polygraph required. Prize money may be held up to (2) weeks to allow time for a polygraph exam at a suitable time for all parties. Winners are responsible for filing any taxes on winnings and prizes received at CBT events.
4. TIES
Overall weight tiebreaker determined by biggest bass weighed in. Overall big bass tiebreaker determined by highest total overall weight. In the event the above does not break the tie, earliest registered in the event takes tiebreaker.
5. LAUNCH SEQUENCE / OFF LIMIT PERIODS
In an effort to randomize blast off, the first tenteams to sign up will draw numbers for the 1 thru 10 blastoff spots. The rest will fall in line with the order at which they sign up. There is no official off limits period or practice days. All tournaments will be starting at safe light and weighing in at 3:30 PM. All participants must pass by the starter boat at the official take off location with both live wells open before blasting off. The CBT director and or officials, reserves the right to postpone or delay the tournament blast off due to inclement weather or unfavorable conditions.
6. SAFETY / BOAT REQUIREMENTS
Safe boating conduct must be observed always. No passing allowed in Bayou Mandeville unless someone flags you around safely. Any time the outboard engine is in gear (forward or reverse), each contestant is required to wear a coast guard approved life preserver and a kill switch that must be attached to the driver. All boats must be 16' minimum in length. Each boat must have all required US Coast Guard safety equipment and a US Coast Guard HP rating tag/plate. ***NO COMMERCIAL TAGS ALLOWED*** Tiller handle outboard motors are allowed but must comply with Coast Guard horsepower rating plate on boat. All boats must possess an operable aerated live well capable of keeping fish alive.
7. SPORTSMANSHIP
ALL contestants are expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy, safety, and conservation. Anyone that has been suspended or disqualified from any other fishing or tournament organization may be denied membership or subject to disqualification if deemed in the best interest of the trail. No participant is allowed to have someone hold a spot for the use of locating or to assist in locating/catching fish during any tournament. No boat may fish within 50 yards of another competitor who was first anchored. An anchored boat is a boat held in a stable position by a line attached to a weight or a shallow water anchor (i.e. Power Pole or Talon) ***Power Pole and Talon must actually be anchored in the ground*** and with the trolling motor in the up position. Fighting will not be tolerated and will result in immediate disqualification.
8. TACKLE AND EQUIPMENT
Only artificial lures, with the exception to pork trailers and Berkley gulp, may be used for catching Bass. All Bass must be caught in a sporting manner. NO SNAGGING. Only (1) rod may be used at any time. NO TROLLING, STROLLING, OR LONG LINING IS ALLOWED.
9. POSTED/OFF LIMITS/DISQUALIFICATIONS
The CBT reserves the right at any time, if it is deemed necessary to protect the integrity of the trail, to call “off limits” any location at any time during the season and/or to disqualify or reject entry to any individuals at any time. The CBT will address and explain any changes/decisions of such immediately via the CBT Facebook page as well as the morning of the following event. Waters with visual signage stating No Fishing, or waters with barriers such as levees/gates/pilings or any manmade obstruction blocking access to a particular area are off limits! No individual at any time may manipulate, remove, or advance through barriers as listed above during a tournament! No individual at any time may post water or property themselves to prevent others from fishing in an area! Anglers may not depart the boat at any time to land fish or to make the boat more accessible to fishing waters! Contact the CBT tournament director or any official with questions pertaining to this rule that have not been clearly explained above!
10. STATE LAW AND REGULATIONS
All participants must abide by ALLlocal and state laws including Wildlife and Fisheries regulations. All competitors are bound by the prevailing statutes and regulations of the various states within which they fish. Competitors are responsible for researching and understanding all fishing and boating regulations for the state/states in which they hold a license. All competitors must possess a valid Louisiana Fishing License.
11. LATE PENALTY
Each team must check in at the designated trail location on the water no later than 3:30 pm. Teams that have not checked in on time will be penalized (1) lb. per minute late. After 10 minutes the team will be disqualified.
12. SCORING
A tournament limit shall consist of (5) live bass. Only Largemouth or spotted bass may be weighed. Official measuring board will be a Golden Ruler. The official length minimum is 12”. Short fish penalty will result in the loss of short fish. Fish that appear to be mangled, mashed, mauled, or altered will be weighed only at the discretion of the tournament officials. Fish will be measured with the mouth closed. No more than (6) fish allowed in a competitors live well at one time. Dead fish penalty is (4 oz. /.25 lb) per dead fish from total weight. All culling must be done on the lake or body of water fished and not in the check in or weigh in area.
13. EMERGENCIES
Team members shall not leave the boat except in emergencies, i.e., sickness or severe weather. A tournament official of the CBT must be notified if a participant needs to leave the boat for any other reason during tournament hours. NO EXCEPTIONS. In the event an angler or team has a mechanical breakdown, first call a trail official for instruction, then the angler or team can catch a ride from another competitor to weigh in with fish.
14. PROTEST/POLYGRAPHS
Protests must be submitted in writing to a tournament official within (15) minutes of scale closing. The CBT and its director/officials have the right to ask any member to submit to a polygraph exam at any time. If anyone refuses a polygraph exam it will result in immediate disqualification from both that event as well as all remaining events that season. All members agree to abide by the results of the polygraph exam. If polygraph is given at an off-site location, the tournament director has the right to withhold all prizes pending the outcome of the polygraph exam.
15. POINT FORMAT
The 100 by 2 points system will be utilized for tracking AOY. (1st place 100pts, 2ndplace 98, 3rd place 96, etc.) Points will be tallied using each team’s highest 5 OF 6 events of the season. ALL EVENTS INCLUDING THE CHAMPIONSHIP COUNT IN POINTS RACE (6 total events). ALL TEAMS WILL BE ALLOWED TO DROP THEIR LOWEST FINISH. Teams must fish 3 of 5 qualifying events to be eligible to participate in the 2024 CBT Championship. The CBT’s Team member or members with the highest points total at end of season will take the Team of the Year award and qualify for the 2024 Bassmaster Team Championship providing the trail receives a minimum of (50) individual paid B.A.S.S memberships. Any additional prizes or payouts will be awarded at the 2024 CBT Championship event!
16. LIABILITY/INDEMNITY
Liability insurance is required with a minimum of $300,000.00 coverage per accident for any contestant using their boats while fishing the CBT. By signing an official entry form, or paying an entry fee and fishing the CBT, you agree to assume all risks associated with the tournament and indemnify/release, protect, defend, and hold the CBT, its sponsors, directors, officials, and affiliates harmless from any and all demands, expenses, claims, losses, damages and liabilities, including attorney fees and court cost, relating to any injury of any person including yourself and to damages to any property which you may cause by reason of participating in a CBT event.
17. CELLPHONES
Cell phones, including texting should be used in emergency situations only. Checking/monitoring of weather/tides/river stages is allowed.
18. RULES INTERPRETATION
The interpretation of these rules will be left up to the sole discretion of the tournament director. Infractions of any rule may result in disqualification of catch and forfeiture of entry fee and/or prizes.
19. AIR BOATS, SURFACE DRIVES, & KAYAKS
No air boats, surface drives, or any other form of Air-Cooled motors are allowed. No kayaks allowed. Tournament Director has final decision. NO EXCEPTIONS.
20. SIGN UP LOCATION
SIGNUPS WILL BE TAKEN (CASH ONLY) AT THE RAMP ON SATURDAY MORNING OF EACH TOURNAMENT. HOST RAMP FOR ALL EVENTS WILL BE CAERNARVON (DELACROIX CORP) PRIVATE LAUNCH. TEAMS WILL BE ALLOWED TO HAVE A DESIGNATED ALTERNATE FOR IF ONE OF THE TEAM MEMBERS HAS TO MISS AN EVENT. THIS ALTERNATE ONCE USED, WILL REMAIN THE ONLY ALTERNATE ALLOWED FOR THAT TEAM THE REST OF THE SEASON FOR ACCUMULATING POINTS.
